All over Portsmouth you will find many restaurants to explore. Seafood is plentiful in this seaside, New England town. American and English fare are easy to come by as well. There are restaurants for every taste as well, including some for the more adventuresome.

43 Degrees North

Enjoy a newer, fancy spot for dining, with a well-stocked wine bar. A great place for local seafood and game meats. Some good starters are the cumin-fried oysters and the seared Maine crab. Main courses to try are the chili-spiced tuna steak, tenderloin of ostrich, boar or rabbit, and the five-spice duck in a blood orange reduction. Blue Mermaid World Grill

In the historic area called the hill, not far from Market Square, you'll find the Blue Mermaid World Grill. Many of the locals enjoy the casual atmosphere and good value. Offerings have a global theme, like Bimini chicken with walnut and a bourbon-coconut sauce, crispy duck with guava and andouille stuffing, or lobster and shrimp pad Thai. Serving lunch and dinner, a wide range of menu choices are offered including pasta, pizza, burgers for more ordinary fare. Reservations are also recommended, especially for larger parties.

Lindbergh's Crossing

At Lindbergh's Crossing you'll find a French country cafè that is somewhat original. Some interesting main courses offered are the pan-roasted cod with beet polenta or a Moroccan bouillabaisse. Also offered are steaks, lamb, and burgers. You'll need reservations, unless you want to eat at the bar.

Dinnerhorn Oyster Bar and Bratskellar Pub

Many choices are yours at these casual dining establishments, with fresh seafood, pasta, steaks, and gourmet sandwiches at Dinnerhorn and pizzas, subs and beer at Bratskellar. You can be seated without reservations.
